Professor Asada, Administrative Director at SISReC, Elected as a Member of the World Academy of Artificial Consciousness (2025.10.01)

We are pleased to announce that Professor Asada, Administrative Director at SISReC, has been elected as an Academician of the World Academy of Artificial Consciousness (WAAC), an internationally renowned authority in the field of artificial intelligence.

Among the distinguished members of WAAC is Nobel Prize laureate in Physics (2015), Prof. Takaaki Kajita, along with leading scholars from top global institutions such as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Cambridge.

Professor Asada is a world-leading pioneer in cognitive developmental robotics. He established a “developmental learning framework” centered on robot embodiment and social interaction, opening new pathways for research on how robots autonomously develop intelligence through sensory–motor experiences. He has also demonstrated strong international leadership in founding and promoting RoboCup, an autonomous mobile robotics competition that has since evolved into a global research and testing platform. His outstanding contributions have been recognized worldwide, leading to his election to WAAC.
